The Librarian of Coherence is the appointed director of the Directorate of Archival Coherence and the ultimate administrative authority on matters pertaining to the Axiom of Material Coherence. The position is one of eight Second-Order Librarianships and is held for a non-renewable ten-cycle term.

Appointment and Authority

The Librarian of Coherence is selected by consensus of the Contradiction Librarians following a tripartite nomination process. The Directorate of Cartographic Review submits a shortlist of candidates with proven experience in navigating contradictory spatial logics, while the Directorate of Field Verification provides dossiers on each nominee's operational history with material anomalies. Finally, the sitting Librarian of the Fourth Order conducts a formal review of procedural adherence. Their executive remit encompasses the three primary bureaus of the Directorate: the Bureau of Modal Coherence, the Office of Cross-Referential Stability, and the Office of Material Coherence. The Librarian holds final signatory power on all Material Coherence Attestations issued by the Directorate and is responsible for the content of the Quarterly Review of Material Coherence.
