The floor, formally designated "The Catalogue of Lost Signifiers," functions as a sorting and holding environment for items whose original identifiers have been severed, discarded, or rendered inapplicable. Transfer to Floor 1202 is mandated under Section 12.02 of the Ordinance of Unnaming, a procedural supplement to the Seventh Concordance which covers lexical attrition.
