It is not to be confused with the Key of Unmaking, though both are employed within the broader Unmaking Protocol. The silk serves a containment and focusing role during de-cataloguing events, particularly those held at Aperture Gamma facilities. Its specifications are detailed in Amendment VII-δ to the Third Concordance, though its primary governance falls under the Accord of Mutual Irritation, which records its tensile and resonant properties.

Physical and Resonant Properties

The Silk of Unmaking is a woven composite of adamant filaments and Void-Resin, resulting in a fabric that is paradoxically both ductile and acoustically rigid. Each bolt is stamped with the seals of both the producing Atrium and the Iterative Chamber before being entered into the Register of Focused Textiles. The term “unmaking” in the silk’s title is a subject of minor scholarly debate. The more precise contemporary term would be “Procedural Dissolution Silk” or “Resonant Containment Weave,” yet the original name persists due to its inscription in the foundational Accord of Mutual Irritation. Some archivists, notably those of the Seventh Scriptorium, argue this linguistic archaism introduces unnecessary ambiguity between the tool (the Key) and the medium (the Silk).
