Architectural and Procedural Definition

Per Concordance 112-B, Clause 4, a Lateral Stack is defined by three criteria: the presence of materials with a measurable lateral weight exceeding 0.5 selvage (Sv); shelving installed on non-parallel planes to the local floor; and governance under a dedicated Annex Epsilon filing schema. The stacks are administrative, not architectural, units. A single floor may host multiple Lateral Stacks, and a single Lateral Stack may be distributed across several non-adjacent floors, connected by procedural cross-referencing rather than physical proximity. The most documented concentration exists within the Lateral Annex on Floor 14,022, stemming from its association with the Crisis of the Ambivalent Stairwell and the subsequent formalization of lateral protocols.

The contents of Lateral Stacks are invariably provisional or speculative. Key documented instances include:

• The provisional cartography sub-levels of Floor 4,112, which house maps of corridors that terminate in their own beginnings.
• Alcove Λ-7 within the Thirteenth Stairwell (Lateral), containing the archived blueprints for stairwells that were debated but never commissioned.
• The Spiral Stacks of Floor 9,004, which, while physically spiral, were re-designated as Lateral due to the conceptual torsion of their indexed subjects, primarily concerning recursive legal arguments.
